Prices Continue to Rise on Construction Materials!
GET MORE HOME FOR YOUR MONEY !
Building material prices that had stabilized in January are on the rise again in February and into Spring. Lumber and sheathing prices sky rocketed in January and now gypsum (drywall), appliances, insulation and shingles are on the rise and will continue as home construction enters its historical heavy season.
Home prices are also destined to climb higher during the spring and summer building season due to
- Insurance funds reaching Hurricane Sandy victims
- Building permits continuing to rebound nationally
- Increased rent rates driving consumers to thing about home ownership
- Increased demand for construction workers raising wage costs

Our Forever Home
We had a piece of land and were ready to build. After tireless searches of different home builder companies, we came to the conclusion that we would not be comfortable with the price of the size home we would be building. So, we decided to look into a manufactured or modular home. At the time we were still calling them a “trailer house” not knowing the advances they had made in there construction and beauty.
We did many online searches and asked people who we knew that owned different brands of manufactured homes if they were happy with their homes. Most of the people we talked to were happy and two were Palm Harbor owners and both said they would buy another Palm Harbor. The online searches scared us so badly that we almost didn’t visit any manufactured home centers. We decided to go check a couple different brands out and compare for ourselves. So with online complaint print outs in hand and tips from friends, we visited several different brands within about a 3 month period. We finally agreed that the best brand for us to go with was Palm Harbor.
We decided on a floor plan and found that the same model home that we wanted was in San Antonio on Austin highway. When we got there we figured, here we go, the salesman is going to come out and be talking fast and pitching his ideas of what we want and pressuring us. We put our game faces on and prepared to be totally irritated by the time we left. I am pleased to say that it was just the opposite. We were introduced to Alberto Pina with Palm Harbor and his wonderful staff. They were all so nice and we couldn’t help but feel right at home in their presence. We were not pressured or hassled and the whole experience was actually easy and fun. They helped us find exactly the home that fit us. Alberto even took the time to take us to a Palm Harbor home center in another town to view a home that we later decided would be the home we would order.
Then after making the decision on the home, he took us to take the factory tour so we could see what all goes into making the home and different options (which was very helpful). He worked with us on choices and prices and let’s just say there were a lot of emails and phone calls and texts. We have now lived in our home 1 ½ months and we are so happy with our home. We have gotten so many compliments on it like, “your kitchen belongs in a magazine” and “your bathroom is so dreamy” and “look at the size of your pantry!!” We even had some of our good friends who were in the market for a new home come look at our home and chose to go with Pina and the same model home as ours.
Everyone that we dealt with in the process of completion was so nice and did such a wonderful job and was so very proud of their craft. In buying a Palm Harbor home compared to building a home we got more bang for our buck and just as good of a home as a site built home. Also talk about service after the sale, we can’t say enough how pleased we are about the whole process and home.
Thank you so very much Alberto Pina and Palm Harbor Village San Antonio on Austin Hwy. You have met and surpassed all our expectations and we are very pleased in trusting you all with the task of helping us find our forever home. Thanks again,
The Lampley Family

Bill and Judy came to us last year in the hopes of finding some land and building their Palm Harbor Home...Together, they worked with us putting together a complete land/home package that included a beautiful Heritage III model that was perfect for their family. We helped get them through the finance process and began construction.
As to be expected on any large project, we encountered some hurdles, but we all worked together to get over them and get Bill and Judy's home ready to move into! Our team was thrilled to see them months later when they walked into our office to say "Hey!" and tell us about all the upgrades they made to their yard to make it their own.
After seeing the pictures from start to finish, we had to put these up on the website as an example of how nice that raw piece of land you're looking at can be. If you have the same dream of a beautiful home that Bill and Judy had, we would love the opportunity to guide you through the process.
We are grateful to Bill and Judy for allowing us to be part of such a special time in their lives.
We hope to see Bill and Judy and you and all of our other happy customers at our Ice Cream Social August 18th. Call us for details on when and where to join us! (210) 657-7718!

Palm Harbor's Oil Service Division based out of the Austin Hwy location broke ground this week on a 22 unit/82 room hotel complex to support the housing needs in the Eagle Ford Shale. The demand for housing in South Texas is huge now with the influx of oil companies coming in to take advantage of this large oil formation. This is the fourth housing complex in less than a year to come from the oil service division with many more in the pipeline. For information on the sale or lease of homes in the Eagle Ford Shale, please contact Angelia Worrel, Senior Project Manager at (210) 551-8740.

Customers ask us every day, "What is the difference between Modular and Manufactured homes?" The difference is that these two types of home construction are actually built to 2 different building codes. Modular homes are built to the local State or county building codes - the same codes used for traditional, site-built homes and inspections in the field. However, Manufactured homes are built to a Federal HUD (Housing and Urban Development) Building code. These homes are inspected in the factory to insure that they meet this rigorous Federal construction code before they are ever allowed to be delivered to your home site.
Palm Harbor Homes builds thousands of modular and manufactured homes every year! In fact, we even build modular construction for commercial use in things like oil field offices, hotels and even army barracks at Ft. Hood. These were all built to Modular standards and inspected in the field.
Did you know that we have homes in downtown San Antonio? And are the FIRST modular builder selected to build for ABC's Extreme Makeover television show?
Here are a few more reasons to consider Palm Harbor for your custom home needs.
- We build in a controlled environment. (No on site weather contamination or materials loss or theft.)
- We have controlled seasoned labor. (No waiting on that sub contractor holding up the job)
- We have limited waste due to conservation efforts in our building centers (less than half the waste of on-site builders and good for the environment - reduces landfills)
- We save TIME, and time is your money.
- We can build and finish a home on your Ranch. (On site builders are COSTLY in this arena)
- We can provide an "On Your Site" personal construction manager.
- We can customise your home to fit any style and budget.
Plus much, much more! Give us a call today to take a factory tour with us. Then we can personalize your own home quote - YOU WILL BE GLAD YOU DID!
