Palm Harbor University

Palm Harbor's commitment to learning and development allows our associates to develop skills through comprehensive training programs. We provide training courses in every division of the company.

Sales Training

Our sales associates start a sales training curriculum on the first day of employment. All sales associates complete Palm Harbor's "Jump Start Your Career" sales training program. This three-month program teaches the sales process, product knowledge, financing options and strategies for increasing sales effectiveness. In addition, all sales associates attend a week long "Rookie School" where they learn professional selling skills from our VP of Sales Training.

We teach sales skills on a regular bases in regional classes. Our managers provide on-site training on a weekly basis to enhance selling skills. These classes cover a wide-range of topics, including:

  • Follow-up for Success
  • Financing Fundamentals
  • Dealing with Difficult Customers
  • Telephone Skills to Enhance Sales
  • Closing the Sale

Operations Training

Our Regional Retail Trainers provide individualized training for our Retail Office Managers. The individualized sessions cover all areas of retail operating procedures. In addition, we provide classes and personal mentoring that cover payroll, accounts payable, computer skills and sales administration. Our operations associates also receive time management and organizational skills training to assist them in being efficient and effective in their jobs.

Management Training

Palm Harbor managers receive operations and leadership skills training through a comprehensive program of leadership development. This process includes an extensive manager-in-training (MIT) program for Retail and Manufacturing Managers.

Palm Harbor provides on-going management training with classes such as "Coaching to Win," "Service Excellence" and "Successful Supervision." These programs teach our managers to become leaders. They then create an environment where associates work together to achieve results.

Our "Habits of Legendary Performance" classes teach associates to achieve improvement through measured results. They also teach them to work as a team, communicate with customers and improve work processes

Manufacturing Associates

Our manufacturing associates complete safety training upon joining the Palm Harbor team. They also learn company philosophy and a wide range of job skill sets needed for their role in the manufacturing process. Our manufacturing associates are also assigned an Ambassador who serves as a mentor and assists the new associate in every aspect of their new job.
