DuraBuilt: Our Exclusive Home Protection Plan

Our 12-point protection plan, DuraBuilt, is a system of state-of-the-art building techniques and preferred finishes exclusively available from Palm Harbor—Austin. Don't settle for less and discover the special protections that go into our home-building process.

Protection Point 1: Texas-Made Steel Transportation Base

As your home builder and know your home better than anyone else, we engineer and build your home’s transportation base at our facility with our experienced engineers and welders. Our Texas-made steel I-beams are specially designed to support the secure transportation of your heavy home.

Protection Point 2: 2X4 Interior Walls and Marriage Line

The marriage line is the point at which home sections align and is a crucial support point for your home. Since the marriage line is hidden behind walls, many manufacturers use less expensive, less durable 2 x 3 or 1 x 3 studs to save money. Here at Palm Harbor – Austin, we use 2” x 4” studs in all interior walls and in support of marriage lines to protect you and your family.

Protection Point 3: 2” X 4” Top and Bottom Plates

Top and bottom plates surround your home and serve as a critical attachment point in our home construction. Both of these plates are important in protecting your roof and home during high winds and storms. We use 2” x 4” plates at these critical stress points, compared to many builders that rely on 1” x 4” or 1” x 3” plates. Our competitors’ cost-cutting measures result in less structural integrity.

Protection Point 4: OSB Marriage Line Support Bracing

The two exterior sidewalls and the marriage line are the three primary support points for your home. At the top and bottom of the marriage lines, which are hidden from sight, we go beyond to add full 4’x8’ sheets of OSB, which are glued and fastened in place for extra stabilization and strength. This additional bracing provides continuous support at the floor and ceiling to enhance structural integrity and long-term support of your home.

Protection Point 5: Fiberglass Graduated Duct System

Our DuraBuilt construction includes a continuous ridge beam that spans your home from one end to the other, creating a backbone of support and stability throughout. Many home builders typically use ridge beams only in open spans, such as the living room. This results in poor support at both ends of the beam that may not show up until years later. We believe in building your home right the first time.

Protection Point 6: Fiberglass Graduated Duct System

We use a highly efficient duct system in our DuraBuilt construction that keeps you comfortable and saves you money. Our fiberglass insulated ducts are engineered with graduated reduction to maximize the airflow without increasing your energy costs. This means you’ll enjoy comfort while saving money every month you live in your home.

Protection Point 7: Leveling Skate System

We keep our homes level throughout the construction process by building each home on a leveling skate system. This superior method of construction provides a level surface, which is similar to the importance of having a level foundation when constructing a site-built home. After construction is complete, we secure the transportation base to your home and prepare it for delivery to your home site.

Protection Point 8: 100% Finished Sheetrock Walls

Our DuraBuilt construction uses finished and painted ½” full gypsum walls in every room of your home, including closets and pantries. The walls are secured with an industry-leading combination of 2-part urethane adhesive and sheetrock nails and screws to ensure a high level of performance and long-lasting home value.

Protection Point 9: Industry-Leading 2”x 8” Floor Joists

Our production team builds every home with 2" x 8" floor joists, 16"oc, providing over 35% more structural lumber, in each home, compared to a home built with a 2" x 6" floor system.

Protection Point 10: Metal Gusset Reinforced Corners

Our dedication to building the best home for your money doesn’t stop at the beautiful interior finishes and accents, it reaches far deeper into the areas of construction that add years to the life of your home. We go the extra mile and reinforce all the corners of your exterior openings with metal gussets – this is truly where exceptional meets affordable.

Protection Point 11: Hand-Crafted Tile Accents in Kitchens and Baths

Not all homes are built the same. We use real ceramic tiles, hand-laid piece by piece by our experienced tile craftsmanship team. Our backsplashes and showers are also easy to clean, compared to the plastic and various other materials being used in today’s homes. Our homes are built to last. DuraBuilt is about combining product durability with beautifully constructed applications.

Protection Point 12: Elements Individual Hand-Laid Floor Tiles

Our homes are crafted using only “Elements” individual floor tiles in the wet areas. This luxury floor system is far superior to common rolled goods, used by many builders to save money. Our tiles are more durable than standard sheet vinyl floors and are designed to last in today’s tough environment. The manufacturing process is strictly controlled with high quality standards to ensure the best value available for your investment.
